Meet Susan Portsche

Director of International Sales Pure Water Brandrecently underwent some organizational changes. Effective immediately, Susan Portsche will assume the responsibility as the Director of International Sales. Susan has been working with Pure Water for the past several years in New Business Development recruiting new Pure Water branded and private label branded customers.

Prior History
Susan has been employed by Pure Water for over 20 years in various capacities. Prior to her involvement in developing new business for Pure Water, she was responsible for introducing the ULTIMA product line in the international markets.

She has traveled extensively, meeting with many customers in such countries as Portugal, Germany, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. In addition, she has traveled to Chile and Brazil, accompanying the Governor of the State of Nebraska on a Trade Mission. Susan has extensive experience in International Sales and is ready to assist you in building your Pure Water business.

Meet Chuck Lupori 

Director of Customer/ Technical Services-International Division Pure Water Brandrecently underwent some organizational changes. Effective immediately, Chuck Lupori will assume the dual responsibility as Director of Sales for the Asia / Pacific Rim regions as well as Africa and also as Director of Customer/ Technical Services-International Division. Chuck has been working with Pure Water for the past seven years in various positions, most recently as the Customer and Technical Services Manager - U.S. and International Divisions. 

Experience in International Customer Service
His experience is in customer support and technical assistance. In his duties as Manager of Customer and Technical Services, he has traveled extensively around the world, conducting training in areas including the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Guam, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Panama, El Salvador, Norway, Singapore, Portugal and Nigeria. As you can tell, Chuck has been around the world and assisted many Distributors and customers. 

With his experience and the close working relationships that he has achieved with our Distributors throughout the world, Chuck has the foundation to succeed in his new challenge. He is eager to establish new partnerships, as well as continue to support the existing ones in many facets beyond the norm.

Mr. Glenn MederWe have a new web-site!!

The internet is becoming the medium of choice for many thousands of people, and we feel that it is extremely important to take full advantage of it. Our old web-site was excellent three years ago when we first announced it. Times are changing fast however, and more and more people are turning to the internet every day. Our challenge was the same as many companies – "how can we use the internet to fully-support our Distributors and the public who want to learn more about us?"

There are a few of the key features that make our web-site stand out…

  1. Dynamic – Our web-site will constantly change and have updated information. We will have contests, editorials and articles of the week, company news, etc… We want you to keep coming back!
  2. Library – The Library section of the web-site will contain a whole database of continually updated news articles, essays, editorials, and company news.
  3. Excellent Format – The navigation bars and entire layout of the site is very professional and pleasing to the eye.
  4. Always New! – Since the web-site is so dynamic, it will continually evolve and get better.
  5. News-style Home Page – Our Home-Page, which is the first page you see, looks like a news page (like CNN, CBS News, etc…). Our home page will change constantly and focus on different articles, books, and more.
  6. New Internet Manager – After you see the web-site you will agree we have hired a true master at web-design!

And there is more to come! Soon we will have a private area for Dealers and Distributors, a private area for customers, on-line newsletters and more. I invite you to try it out and tell us what you think!

A Vision of the Future

I’m sure that all of you who are familiar with Pure Water Brandand our products will agree that for 30 years we have manufactured the best drinking water systems in the world! Other companies, however, such as Culligan (now part of US Filter) and large bottled water companies such as Sparkletts, Arrowhead and Hinckley & Schmitt have dominated drinking water sales.

Our goal within the next seven to ten years is to become the sales leader in the drinking water market! We will do this by greatly enhancing our support to you, our Distributors, and by helping you make your business a full-time success!

We are significantly improving our core support program for you step by step. Over the next few months you will notice quite a few enhancements including an improved web-site, a greatly improved sales presentation and presentation kit, an improved recruitment program, and a new Pure Water Lead Assistance Program. Not to mention our recent product enhancements and the introduction of the new MINI-Classic and MEGA-Classic (with more soon to come)!

We have made an ambitious goal, but it is possible and one that we are going to achieve. I challenge you to make an ambitious goal for your own Pure Water Business. Talk to three more people a day about our distillers, or the business opportunity that we offer. Better yourself every day, perfect your sales techniques and step outside of your comfort zone once and a while.

Take full advantage of our new programs that we will be introducing over the next few months. We designed them to help you be successful! I am proud to be a part of Pure Water’s U.S. Distributor Program, and I promise to make our support to you better than ever before!

International News

Guinea Worm

Most people in developed countries have never heard to guinea worm, even though it is a serious threat in many African nations. A guinea worm is a long, threadlike parasitic worm that thrives in tropical Asia and Africa. The adult female carries one-to-three million embryos and can grow to as long as one meter (one yard). Infection occurs when water is consumed from wells contaminated by minute crustaceans infected by guinea worm larvae.

Once digested, the crustacean releases the larvae, which penetrates the intestinal wall and develops into a worm. The worm makes its way throughout the victims’ body, causing excruciating pain, particularly around the joints. The guinea worm eventually exits the body, usually through the feet. Disability can last from several weeks to several months. In severe cases, complications from the parasite can result in death.

The cost of the disease goes far beyond matters of physical well being; it reoccurs each agricultural season, meaning huge losses in food production and farm activity. This, in turn, means a loss of financial savings. The result is a vicious cycle of poverty and disease.

A means to eradicate the disease is through distillation. Through the process of distillation, the guinea worm is killed in the boiling stage. The remains of the guinea worm larvae then remain behind in the boiling tank for periodic draining, along with the other contaminants removed during the distillation process.

Typhoid in China

Severely flooded regions of northeast China were faced with typhoid, according to Inside China Today. The state-run Xinhua news agency cited a Health Ministry investigation that points to a 51.8% jump in infectious disease reported in Heilongjiang province for the year, much of it credited to typhoid fever and dysentery. The ministry also warned of mounting danger from a possible outbreak of epidemics.

Vietnam Drought

Vietnam is facing its worst drought in 90 years. Nearly a million people in central Vietnam's six provinces are going hungry because of the loss of the summer-autumn rice crop (200,000 tons that won’t be harvested) due to drought. Drinking water rationing of one gallon per person per day is strictly enforced, spawning a highly inflated black market for water. Epidemics of malaria and dengue fever have broken out.

Epidemics feared in India flooding

After three weeks of flooding in northern India, more than 1,000 people are dead and 1.5 million people marooned as of early September. Thirty-four deaths are credited to a cholera epidemic caused by the flood, according to state officials in Uttar Pradesh, India’s most populous state.

Gorakhpur, a city near Nepal with 91% more rain than normal, reported as many as 263 cases of gastroenteritis and five related deaths, according to The Indian Times.

Selling Pure Water.

Hall of Fame

In recognition of their many successful years representing Pure Water, Cony & Vicky Brown of Florida were inducted into the Pure Water BrandHall of Fame at the 1998 Fall Sales Conference.

Cony got involved with Pure Water in 1975 when a Pure Water Dealer introduced him to a Midi Still. After using his new distiller, he decided to sell distillers full-time, rather than teach school. This was in September 1977.

Cony met Vicky at church in 1978 and they were soon married. They even took a distiller on their honeymoon. Vicky also began selling full-time in the water business and together they opened a full-service water store, using Pure Water equipment. They ran the store for five years before selling it.

Vicky and Cony have been on President's Council several times and have also ranked number one in sales and recruiting. Although the road has not always been smooth, they have been successful over the long haul.

Pure Water President Al Meder, along with Hall of Fame members Al Pose and Don Ellison, presented the award. In acceptance, Cony and Vicki gave thanks to their Dealers, the people of Pure Water who helped along the way, and for the fact that we have the best water distillers in the world.
